The vision of working with formerly incarcerated individuals as they reenter the outside community was an outgrowth of our participation in a Mission Sustainability Cohort in the Southwestern Washington Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). What we often heard from the men of Living Stones Prison Congregation* at Washington Corrections Center was their deep hope and need to be welcomed. Our desire is to support returning citizens and their families by creating welcoming communities for them.
Stepping Stones to Re-Entry was established as a charitable non-profit 501(c)3 corporation on May 7, 2019, with the State of Washington.
